Alyeska Resort in Alaska Debuts Veilbreaker Skybridges

for Summer 2023

Connect with Adventure and Stand at the Edge of Alaska’s Mighty Wilderness

Girdwood, Alaska (April 03, 2023): August 2023 will mark the grand opening of the new Veilbreaker Skybridges at Girdwood’s Alyeska Resort, located 40 miles from Anchorage. Suspended 2,500 feet above the valley floor and spanning 600 feet, Veilbreaker Skybridges is a 2 - 3 hour-long experience for people of all skill levels, with two bridges suspended over Christmas and New Year’s Chutes. With stunning vistas of Alaska’s wild landscape from harrowing heights, explorers will have a true sense of adventure from the new Veilbreaker Skybridges, which will be available in the summer months from July to September.

The exhilarating experience begins with a tram ride to Alyeska’s Mountain Station where guests will be met by Expert Mountain Guides who will teach them about mountain safety and all the necessary gear, such as helmets and harnesses, before driving them or leading them on a 30-minute hike to the Skybridge venue. The Mountain Guides are trained in working with guests to provide life-long skills to conquer stressful moments and offer tools and tips such as breathing techniques to help them accomplish the great adventure that awaits them. Offering a bird’s eye view of the majestic Alaska landscape, the Veilbreaker Skybridges provides a truly unique perspective of Turnagain Arm, the Chugach temperate rainforest, and the monumental seven “hanging” glaciers. At the end of the two bridges, guests can share their experiences and enjoy a meal or drink at Bore Tide Deli & Bar before taking the tram back to the resort.

Alyeska Resort - Skybridge

“Alyeska Resort is thrilled to be debuting the Veilbreaker Skybridges as another adventurous offering for guests in the summer season. Along with exclusive dining experiences and the recently opened Alyeska Nordic Spa, there are a lot of great new reasons to visit us, be it the first time or to welcome you back,” said Ryan Pomeroy, CEO of Pomeroy Lodging.

Alyeska Resort is the perfect base camp for endless adventure and relaxation. There are various outdoor experiences from the resort including 2.2 miles of intermediate to advanced hiking trails and guided tours around the resort and mountain that will start this summer. The resort is conveniently accessible to the Kenai Peninsula, Whittier, and Anchorage for day trips. Located just 40 miles south of Anchorage in the town of Girdwood, Alyeska Resort can easily be reached by a scenic 45-minute drive on the Seward Highway or the twice-daily Coastal Classic Train from Anchorage to Girdwood. The Veilbreaker Skybridges is the latest offering to debut for guests, since Pomeroy Lodging opened its Alyeska Nordic Spa in September 2022. Its proximity and access to Anchorage make the Veilbreaker Skybridges and Nordic Spa an ideal experience for a day trip or weekend escape. At the Nordic Spa, hydrotherapy access, yoga and pilates classes, use of locker rooms, and access to Two Trees Bistro can be booked at $119 per person. Treatment rates, guidelines, and the full spa menu are available at anordicspa.com. Guests must be 18+ to enjoy the spa experience.

The Veilbreaker Skybridges experience costs $150 per person and includes a tram pass, ropes training, safety gear, and is reserved for groups of up to six people.
